1992年从香港中文大学博士毕业，先后成为国家杰出青年科学基金获得者，早期在Scripps研究所完成抗癌药紫杉醇等的首次全合成，文章发表在《自然》杂志。历任北京大学化学生物学与生物技术学院院长（2008年起），北京大学深圳研究生院副院长（2018年至2020年），北京大学深圳研究生院常务副院长（2020年起）。 [3]
